SMB Client not installed

I'm trying to install smbclient to mount a couple of smb shares. Software details are at the bottom.

The FTP support in PHP is not enabled or installed. Mounting of "FTP" is not possible. Please ask your system administrator to install it.

Old Jails gone after update form FreeNAS 11.2 to 11.3

Hi,

maybe a simple, dumb question : after updating FreeNAS from 11.2 to 11.3 my Jails (nextcloud) have simply disappeared,
I cannot access the old GUI anymore, jls, iocage list says nothing, the command "warden doesnt exist.
Anybody with a quick fix?

FTP Server - Dataset issue

Hello everyone!

Here's what I have:

FreeNAS v. 11.3-U3.2

I've setup FTP Server. Created a group/user and two datasets "office","Scan". "Scan" is child dataset & there's several files in it. So when I try to delete Dataset folder "Scan" in Filezilla i got this message "550 Scan : Device Busy", I can't delete the folder It's Ok! But! that files in that folder gone away. Is this a bug or permissions issue ?

remote access failure for PlexMediaServer on FreeNAS-11-STABLE

Running FreeNAS 11-STABLE and the PlexMediaServer plugin.

I am trying to setup remote access to the PlexMediaServer on <ipaddr0>.

The router is setup to forward port 32400 to the <ipaddr0>:32400
The router has a fixed ip address <xx1.yy1.zz1.ww1>
When I enable the remote access, it is not using the router address, instead it is using <xx2.yy2.zz2.ww2>
which I think belongs to my Internet Operator.

I can change the public port, but I do not see a way to specify the router address.

Trouble with Dual LSI Raid cards

I have 16 drives I am trying to connect to my FreeNAS server with two HBA cards. Cards are:
  • Fujitsu D2607-A21 FW:P20 9211-8i IT - Avago Firmware 20.00.07.00-IT
  • SAS9200-8i controller - LSI firmware 10.00.08.00-IT
I have a race condition, Sometimes the Avago Firmware will appear on bootup and everything works well, all 16 drives are seen. But if the LSI firmware runs, I get a couple errors and then the only the 8 drives on the Fujitsu controller are seen...

No default gateway found for ipv6

I keep receiving mail alerts from: Freenas "SERVERNAME" CronTask Run
Content: No default gateway found for ipv6.

Is there a way to disable ipv6? I can't find a way to do it.

If you have one of these drives in your pool please help!!!

Other 10TB drives might work but the specific hard drive model numbers I am looking for are:

Seagate Exos 10TB : ST10000NM0086-2AA101​
and/or​
WD Red 10TB : WD100EFAX-68LHPN0​

I will post detailed instructions below but if you have either of these drives in one of your pools I am hoping you can run a dd command to copy the first 1536 bytes...

Hallo zusammen, ich bin der Neue hier,
ich will endlich den Einstieg in den Homeserver-Bereich wagen und habe mir darum vor einigen Tagen das aktuelle FreeNas auf meinen PC installiert. Da mir momentan das nötige Kleingeld fehlt, habe ich das System auf einer kleinen SSD installiert und als Datenplatte eine kleine 2TB-Platte in den PC geschraubt, um
mir erst mal in Ruhe alles anschauen und ausprobieren zu können.

plexmediaserver plugin cannot be installed on truenas core 12.0 beta

Hi,
After a fresh installation of truenas core 12.0 beta, I try to install the plexmediaserver plugin. But I got an error when the installation reached its 75%.

Error: plexmediaserver had a failure Exception: RuntimeError Message: pkg error: - ffmpeg : Refusing to fetch artifact and run post_install.sh! Partial plugin destroyed

FreeNAS doesn't like my NVMe anymore :(

When I initially added the device as a pool, I got a similar error about the device, but it worked on retry. My server worked until my PSU died and my mobo's sata ports stopped working so I upgraded the motherboard. Now on my new motherboard, my HDDs and SSD both work fine, but the NVMe doesn't want to import in FreeNAS. :( Tried in M.2 slot and PCIE card slot, same result. Went thru bios, can't see any settings that would impact this NVMe...

Any ideas?

Dedup Special Drive?

With the intro of the special dedup drive, does this make dedup more usable now? Less reliant on memory?

We run almost a 100 terminal servers on a storage server so we are just starting to test true nas and determine if a special meta drive makes sense or maybe start u sing dedup?

we typically run 11 mirrored vdevs, 256gb ram, mirrored zil and a 2tb l2arc with 40gb network cards....

Looking for some more speed! lol

I had all my jails running in a pool which is snapshot recursively once a day. I decide to replicate those to a different pool on the same server and having done that I couldn't access any jails. From the GUI all that showed was an activation of a pool request. From the NAS shell I got the following:

LetsEncrypt step by step for non DNS mode

Does anyone have a step by step for how to install a LetsEncypt cert using acme? I know there is one for the DNS method but I need the other method and not sure how to set it up using the jail. The step by step I saw just says you need to use a jail and install socat and the acme on that but not sure how to get it all going.

Alert: unrecoverable error

So i've been trying to figure this out and sometimes it stays away for a week or so, sometimes it's instantly back. Basically it's an alert i get.

Boot pool status is ONLINE: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was made to correct the error. Applications are unaffected..

So i went looking in other topics where i found someone recommending to zpool status -v, which gives me the following result.

Deleted one jail - FreeNAS deleted all clones - I need those...

So I went to delete one of my jails thinking I had several cloned copies of it that I could use as backups and after several moments much to my horror all of the clones and the original have been deleted by the gui. I'm kind of panicking because there's about two years of work contained in there.

It looks like all the snapshots associated with those jails were also deleted? All I have are pool/iocage snapshots and various other sub-snapshots. Am I safe to restore the latest pool/iocage...

Windows 10 VM Update Not Enough Memory

I have a Windows 10 Pro VM running on a dedicated 500GB SSD with 4 cores & 6GB of memory set. This shows properly in task manager & CPU-Z. However, when running the Windows 10 Update Assistant to update from version 1607 it says it doesn't have enough memory (2GB minimum).
Has anyone else encountered this issue or know a fix?

I updated the Plex pkg and noticed this note:

* Enable loading of kernel module on boot: sysrc kld_list+="drm"
** If Plex will run in a jail, you must load the module outside the jail!

FreeNAS 11.2 Stable and Safari on iOS

Some days ago I updated to FreeNAS 11.2, everything is working fine. I can login to the new interface using my pc's browsers or via SSH. When I try to login using iOS I get stuck on "Connecting to NAS... Make sure the NAS system is powered on and connected to the network.".
I tried deleting my browser cache with no result. It happens on an iPad and on an iPhone running iOS12.

Okay so I recently built a freenas server for my video editing needs (I edit 8k Red R3D footage} and I have a few questions about some of the configurations. I'm primarily interested in read speeds only and being able to stream my footage from the server to the editing workstation to edit. I've tested my peer to peer connection via 10GB and it seems great. The caviat is the initial clip playback in the timeline seems to have a delay latency and ramp up throughput. Why does the login page even require a "username"?

I've always pondered the reasoning behind login screens that only accept root (or admin) as a username, yet still require you to type it in every time.

Wouldn't it be preferable and quicker to simply require only a password, as "root" is supplied as the default "username"?

It's not like you can access the web GUI via any other username.

Is there a historical reason behind this? Just tradition that never changed? Imagine unlocking your iPhone or Android phone, yet a...
