My server powered itself off during a scrub - the first time this has happened

i was using a seasonic g 550w for 6 years. it has a 5 year warranty. i think this is the problem.
i just bought a seasonic focus gx 1000 with a 10 year warranty. i don't really need a 1000w but it was cheaper than the 650, 750 and 850.

Grub Loader on da0 (needed to be able to boot from ada4 without the use of Hardware-RAID [Gen8-Specific] )

Overall Status:

iSCSI performance question...

I'm building out a box with a good deal of storage for use as the iSCSI backend to a VMware cluster ... I did this once before and the guidance I got from here was extremely beneficial - unfortunately, the last system I built has been outgrown.

Basic build here is big but straight forward:
  • At least 8 cores in the CPU
  • 128GB Memory
  • (2) 10GB SFP+ uplinks
  • (2) 240GB 6GB/s SATA SSD for OS
  • (2) 1.92TB PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD L2ARC
  • (2) 480GB 6GB/s SATA SSD ZIL
  • (18) 6TB 12GB/s...

Hello FreeNAS community,

I have installed FreeNAS-11.3-U2.1 on a Dell PowerEdge 730xd with 2 x Intel E5-2680 v3 CPUs and 64 GB of RAM. The server has an embedded PERC 330 mini RAID controller card, to which two HP SSD S700 500G disks are attached.
I booted FreeNAS installer from a USB, the installer strangely did not detect the two SSD disks, although they are configured in Non-RAID mode. So I had to configure them into a RAID1 virtual drive and boot the installer again. The installer this...

Ok!

So I reached a point where I have a bunch of HDDs and I'm wondering what would be the best way to arrange them, both physically (where/which size) and logically (zfs-1,2,3, mirror vdevs etc).

That's my situation:

So, my challenge is: how to distribute this bunch of HDDs among my systems, so that I maximize space with good redundancy/security, and keeping at least 2 backups.

The MAIN SYSTEM has 10 slots, the BACKUP 1 has 6 and the...

Interpreting Pool Status Output

Hi,
I've had freenas running peacefully for many years with no trouble. Consequently, it's a long time since I've messed with it and I'm struggling a bit with how to deal with the 17% degredation of my pool. FreeNAS tells me there's a problems but doesn't seem to be explicit regarding what the problem actually is. Consequently, I'm unsure how to proceed. Though obviously I expect I'm going to need to replace one or more disks.

I recently replaced a disk in my pool after I received the following alerts:

Code:
* Device: /dev/ada3, Self-Test Log error count increased from 0 to 1.
* Device: /dev/ada3, 8 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors.


After replacing I run Sparefoots burnin script to validate wether the old disk is really failing or not.

Bad blocks returned no errors and the short & long S.M.A.R.T tests all pass without error -...

Hello,
I just migrated 2 NAS from XigmaNAS to FreeNAS!

NAS1 (32GB RAM)
System drive: 160 GB HDD @ SATA
FreeNAS Installation DVD created 3 Partitions (Boot, System and SWAP I assume)

NAS2 (32GB RAM)
System drive: 120 GB SSD @ USB 3.0
FreeNAS Installation DVD created 2 Partitions (Boot & System) - an SSD @ USB3 should be fast enough for a SWAP-Partition, there is no SATA Port free

According to the Fact that I can't create any Pools NAS2cannot create a Swap-Partition on...

No Swap Partition possible, why? - wish for future release!

Система запускается, пишет, что можно зайти на веб морду по таким то ip
Ввожу адрес в браузере, вижу чудесную рыбку и всё, дальше загрузка не идёт.
Логотип в браузере загружается подозрительно долго.
Что с этим делать?

Currently not really having any issues, but I do have a dilemma that’s I was hoping some more intelligent than I could offer some proper guidance on.

Originally I had a single 16GB USB Cruzer running freenas and I have since added an additional mirror after seeing some weird read errors. I thought that this should help me keep some uptime. However I have been reading that due to the increase read/writes to the system, USB dongles are no longer the ideal or preffered method. However i...

Hi!
I am trying to get a simple script running on FreeNAS 11.3U2-1.

The first two lines/commands are supposed to create a directory:

mkdir path/to/directory/$1/subdirectory2


I run the script from the FreeNAS shell:

sh path/to/script.sh subdirectory1


I have set the permissions of the script to 777 - temporarily.

I get the response that the directory path/to/directory/subdirectory1/subdiretory2 does not exist („No such file or directory“)...

Hi,
Do you know if 220ge or 3000g supports ECC memory?
From ASRock website, their motherboard support ecc, but not on these cpu family.
Their tech support said they have multiple users telling it's working...
Any of you using these models?
Seems like all "ecc" CPU are >= 65w.

openssl update to 1.1.1?

Hey
I want to switch to TLS1.3 and after a little test I realized that my problem is that openssl is on version 1.0.2 and pkg update does not update it. I need to update it at least to version 1.1.1
And I did not really find anything on Google to help me.
Do you know what to do? How to fix it?

FreeNAS 11.2 u4
WebServer: Nginx and its version supports TLS1.3 The only thing left to update is the openssl
