Time Machine fails to authenticate with NAS back-up disk

Hi all,

I am using an iXsystems FreeNAS Mini-2.0 running TrueNAS-12.0-U1.1. My problem is connecting to the NAS time-machine share. My new laptop can find the NAS share, but attempts to connect have failed to an error authenticating with the username and password I created in my NAS.

The username was confirmed using the TrueNAS GUI (Accounts > Users) and I re-entered the password just in case: Even so, every attempt to connect fails to the error authenticating message. Here is the message...

Bind Required with Virtual Machines

I'm running SCALE (the latest nightly) and I've had this issue for the last few nightlies where, when I go to create a virtual machine, it tells me that "Bind is required," but then gives me nothing to bind to.

I have unused network interfaces so I don't think that is the issue, I've been trying to deploy a VM for the past few days and haven't been able to do so.
I'm wondering if this is a bug within SCALE itself, or if this is just user error?

Any help...

TrueNAS core kernel panic durch Jails bei hoher Netzwerk last

Hallo zusammen,

Hide smb share to mac users without read or write permission on 12.0-U2

Hi all,
I'd like to hide in order to keep as cleanest as possibile shares. I'm just moved from form AFP to SMB and one think i've noted is the behaviour of smb shows all shares to all user differently from AFP. In the attached sketch, i've represented a pool's structure in order to let you better understand the situation. On finder zeroconf announce Freenas and the mounted from user it shows share 1 & 2. What i'd like to achieve (that was working on AFP), is hide share1 to a group (B). I've...

TrueNAS Scale Linux mode 1 Bond

Hi,
Yesterday trying out TrueNAS Scale, on test DL380G10 with Connect-X 5 and LSI 3008 HBA, I found out that my 80G Active-Backup (linux mode 1) bond didn't work as expected.

I pulled out one cable from the NIC for maintenance and sensu started complaining about the host reachability, after some test I found out that my mode 1 bond didn't have a miimon rate set (cat /proc/net/bonding/bond0). Thus the bond couldn't understand when the carrier is down and is time to switch slave

IPv6 custom static interface identifier

Hello!
I recently changed my ISP and now I'm getting a real dual stack (yay!) with dynamic v4 addresses and dynamic v6 /64 prefixes (nay...). So far so good, I figured out that on my linux hosts I could simply set so called IPv6 address tokens for an interface, which then are used to create the full IPv6 using SLAAC. Thus while I've got assigned prefix "A", one of my services is reachable via "A::45" and as soon as the prefix changes to "B", my service automatically gets available through...

Hey!

I have this setup:

Here is the problem:

I created a zvol and i connected via FC to an esxi host.

I tested with RDM and a VMFS datastore.

Mini XL+ only sees 2 of 8 drives. What to check?

I bought a Mini XL+ shell and installed 8x8TB WD Red Plus drives in it. After powering it on for the first time (which happened the moment I plugged in the power cord) the system seems to be identifying only 2 of the 8 drives installed, in addition to the OS and L2ARC drives. There are no lights on one of the bays and during boot I see a series of ATA errors. See attached photo. Also, during boot, there's this horrible, staccato, screeching and scratching sound that puts me in mind of a head...

Mounting and using APFS sparse bundles over SMB

My apologies if I have missed something, but I do believe I have performed an exhaustive search on the forums and have not found any information relating to my specific issue. If there is, I would appreciate a link to it. Thanks!

I have been building, configuring and testing a TrueNAS server (based on i7-2600, 8 GB RAM, a SSD system disk and four SATA data drives) over the last few months, and believe I have something reasonably stable now, although I have not quite finished burn-in...

How much power does freeNAS use?

Hi.
I'm not sure how to give this thread a good subject, but my thought is how much power does freeNAS use?
I know it depends on the hw used for freeNAS, but can freeNAS use the same power as other NAS out there?

User Password & Pool Offline

Finally got back into my server after shutting down to move the rack power. While relieved, I was surprised that my password was not accepted. The ROOT account worked and I got in.
The user and group name was there. The password was missing, but reentered and saved user and group settings. Exited to log back in and the password was not accepted. Used ROOT go in and do it again three times with same result.

I also noticed the dashboard saying the Data Pool is named but offline. Digging...

New to This forum, and hopefully upcoming newbie to a TrueNAS Core system.
I am from Denmark, so my English could be better.

I am in the process of putting together a TrueNAS system as my new NAS/home server. I have little experience in diy NAS systems, but have after hours of reading decided that a TrueNAS system properly is the way for me. I am currently running a Synology NAS.

The system is going to be my NAS server as well as my media server for either streaming devices to my Chorme...

Running virtual machines in a virtualized TrueNAS host - Should this be possible, in theory?

Hi all,

I run TrueNAS in a Proxmox virtual machine.

While I do not plan on utilizing TrueNAS for virtual machines, for reasons that are irrelevant, I needed to set up an Ubuntu Server VM directly on TrueNAS as I needed a Linux host to have direct access to the storage within TrueNAS.

I have Proxmox set up correctly to allow nested hardware-assisted virtualization with the TrueNAS guest CPU type set to "host". I ran through the wizard to create the virtual machine in TrueNAS. Linux, Ubuntu...

Truenas Scale mount exist ext4 disk for SMB

Hello,

I'm new here and I used openmediavault before.

I had new installed system disk, two existed zpools, and one existed single ext4 disk as data.

For zpools, it's easy to import and share by samba.
However for ext4 disk, I mounted to /mnt/data by edit /etc/fstab,
but when I try to add to smb shares, I got an error "The path must reside within a pool mount point".

Does it mean only dataset in the zpool can be shared by smb?

Regards

At times I get loads of these, and then suddenly none.

my noob... tells me it is due to my HW problem I think I have, but I've now gone and scrubbed 3 drives that reported errors via seagate tools, through working ports and through ports where I thought was errors, with same cables and all passed, nota single error, making me wonder if I have bad sata ports, cables or HDD's...

But then I get these.

Hi,

I have followed this guide to setup a WireGuard server within a Jail on my FreeNAS box and it is working well. I would now like to set up a WireGuard site-to-site tunnel between the WireGuard Server and a remote router running OpenWRT, so clients connected to the OpenWRT router LAN can access clients connected to the WireGuard Server/FreeNAS LAN.

I found the guide below that can...
