Hallo liebes Forum,

da ich zukünftig gerne auf ZFS mit Snapshots setzen würde, habe ich aktuell bei einem Dell T40 zugeschlagen um mein QNAP Nas zu erstzen.
Meine erste Frage bezieht sich auf die System HDD. Da der T40 nur 4xSATA Ports hat würde ich entweder auf eine kleine interne m.2 SSD im PCIe Slot setzen oder auf eine externe SATA/mSata SSD über USB 3.0. Truenas rät davon ab USB Sticks zu verwenden, aber wie sieht es mit Sata/msata SSD´s über USB aus? Oder leiden die Bridgechips auch...

Добрый день всем, завис на такой задаче, есть три файловых сервера Windows, есть цель перенести всю информацию на Truenas. Truenas настроен ,AD подключен , вроде все ок , но никак не переносятся ACL файлов на Truenas, файлы копируются, список и права пользователей пустой, присваивается только права директории Truenas. В ручную все без проблем добавляется на каждую отдельную папку. Информации много, и около 50 сотрудников, не хотелось бы все заного ручками разграничивать доступ к файлам и...

TrueNAS Core unable to recognize WD SN550 as NVME storage device.

I am virtualizing TrueNAS Core using Proxmox and tries to build a pool from an array of NVMe drives. I have seven drives in total, from three different brands. Two of them are WD Blue SN550. When building a new pool using the web interface, I found neither WD SN550 showed up as storage devices:

Zfs replication data and snapshots are unavailable at destination ?

Dear all,

I try to keep it simple; Just recently I upraded my zfs replication destination host from 11.1U7 to 11.2U7 incl. pool upgrade, The zfs source host was always on the 11.2 train and is also up2date on 11.2U7.

Since the upgrade everything seems to be good- the snapshots and the replications looks good and also the data size at the destination makes sense BUT the destination directory is empty and it is not possible to clone the replicated snapshots with the following error: cannot...

Pool shows offline on GUI but its gone on CLI

Hello Peoples,

I removed a Pool from my Truenas server and reused those disks onto my main pool. This was done via CLI.

I wonder if anyone can help with this strange fault I've been having with Freenas 11.3-U5. I've attached a screenshot of what happens around 1 in every 5 reboots. I've been trying to figure this out for about 2 weeks now and guess I spent about 50 hours trying to find hardware faults, including multiple passes of Memtest with ECC enabled and disabled. Needless to say, I can't find anything so far.

Here's my hardware:

1 x Supermicro H8SML-7F motherboard
1 x AMD FX-6300 CPU
4 x Kingston 8GB...

Showing drives of different sizes when all drives are 1Tb

Hello,

I am having issues with drives showing up as different sizes when they are all the same. How do I fix this, will it effect capacity, and will it effect the hot spare. These are all mixed hard drives but all show 931.51 in Windows 10. This is why I have included a hot spare.

My thoughts are that because some drives are connected through a SAS card and others are connected through usb, they show as different capacities in TrueNAS.

I have a Supermicro chassis running turenas, it has been since 2017 I recently upgraded it to TrueNAS-12.0-U2.1, and the web interface keeps getting slower and slower, it eventually I have to restart middlewared because of memory usage and because we cant sign in because 2fa you can only use it right after a code rolls over because it takes so long to authenticate. Windows Users Getting Plagued by Errors

Our windows users accessing our TrueNAS build over the SMB are getting plagued by two errors. either "and unexpected network error occurred" (error 0x8007003B) or "handle is invalid". Our TrueNAS build (running on a Dell R730XD) is almost unusable. large file transfer operations need to be baby-sat, and "try again" pressed constantly.

HDR to SDR tone mapping in Plex

Hi guys,

I'm planning to migrate from unraid to truenas scale and I would like to know if anyone got HDR to SDR tone mapping working in Plex. According to the plex's support page the follwoing packages are required to turn this capability on in linux: ocl-icd-libopencl1 beignet-opencl-icd, does anyone have any experience with installing them and getting HDR to SDR to work?

Add TrueNAS as Library location in Windows 10

Hello there, i have the following problem:
I want to move my Windows 10 Librarys over to my TrueNAS Storage Server via a SMB Share, but Windows tells me that "This network location can't be includet because it is not indexed".
So, naturally i tryed to google what might be the issue there and which solutions there are for this, but i found noething that works for me.

Besides of lots of posts in various forums that basicly just said "I have this problem" with few answers that are not helpfull...

I already have the bellow pieces of hardware.

I'd like to have FreeNAS handle backups of a bunch of linux boxes. (Mostly Raspberry Pis that exist for their physical properties, e.g. being able to drive a USB/ModBus adapter in proximity to our boiler, which is nowhere near our rack.)

Is there a walkthrough somewhere I'm not finding for this? (I've read the rsync man page and the FN guide. They're not helpful for the whole solution.)

Where I'm stuck now is on user management on the FN side. Each server to be backed up should have it's...

So first off hardware for this help request can be found in the signature below.

I believe I have made a bad decision on configuration of my TRUENAS server and want to correct it while I still can.
I am currently running a single pool in RAIDZ3 of 16 Drives. I believe I would be better off with two 8 drive vdevs in RAIDZ2. Cant Install TrueNAS over Serial Console

Hi Guys,

So i have been banging my head against this for some time now.

My objective is to install TrueNAS on a WD Sentinal DX4000.

I have manged to connect to the device over a serial console and have managed to change the BIOS boot setting to boot from the USB.

I get to the point where the TrueNAS Installer screen shows up with the multiple options to install TrueNAS.

I select 2 as the option to install over Serial, since the device does not have any VGA output. But i get the below...

Hello, I am pretty new to TrueNas and i was having some issues figuring out how to connect a Mac to an SMB share. I have already connected a PC to an SMB share, and I was looking at the user guide and they recommended to use SMB shares to connect mac to TrueNas but when I looked at how to do it i didn't actually find any information on how to connect it after creating the SMB share.
