TrueNAS core No longer boots... Help

So This afternoon I rebooted TrueNAS Core on Dell T410 64GB 8 (4 TB Drives) + 150 GB Crucial MX500 SSD. As far as I know the maching was working fine. I rebooted the server ... I saw I bunch for the gzfs error scroll by and then the machine BTX halted. I tried booting with the Installation USB and that didn't help either it still halts the same way.... I am really confused that I can't even boot with the USB.... Any help guys ? The halt screen is half white and the following text on the...

TrueNAS Scale / Docker / Multiple IPs

Hi,
Normally, on my docker server, I like to set multiples IPs and dedicate IP to most of my docker.
I did not find any option to set multiples IP on my interface in TrueNAS Scale. Is it possible ? Maybe only via CLI ?

Hi,

I recently built a TrueNAS system purely for NFS Mounting to Proxmox Cluster.
During my testing, I noticed when performing storage migrations from CEPH inside Proxmox over to the NFS mount (Write intensive operation) TrueNAS starts to report port flapping. The interesting aspect is I have separate physical uplinks to different storage networks that are not connecting to each other which is why I suspect the issue is System specific. The issue is occurring on both Intel 1GbE uplinks...

Misreported volume size.

Hi all,

I've been running A small server since about freenas 8 but never really delved under the hood too much.
I just run a basic file server and a plex instance.
One thing that always bothered me Is my video storage area has never reported size correctly. It is actually a few TB.

I also notice the Type is different. This is not something I have done intentionally.

Can anyone advise me if the reporting is an easy fix?

EncFS in TrueNAS Core 12.0-U2.1

I have a pool with a dataset encrypted with encfs on an older Linux (16.04). Back then ZFS did not have native encryption. I want to migrate this dataset to one with ZFS encryption on the same pool. I moved the disks to new hardware running TrueNAS Core 12.0-U2.1 and I'm having quite a challenge getting encfs to work in a jail (as apparently that's the only possible way).

What I did so far:
  1. Imported the pool and the dataset and all is good there
  2. Create a 12.2-RELEASE-p5 jail...

An Unexpected Network Error Has Occured

we're running two TrueNas 12 instances, and both of them have an issue with "an unexpected network error has occured" when we use them with windows over SMB. nowhere ever does this issue arise with our windows machine when we're doing windows-to-windows transfers.

this is a rather vague error. how would one dig into getting more information regarding this issue? are there detailed windows or TrueNAS logs one can extract? can't really work with errors; these machines are expected to sever...

upgrading from Core to Scale without burning an ISO ?

Hi. I am on the latest Core. I dont have alot (actually any) critical data on my nas, and I would like to try Scale.

My NAS enclosure is a @#$! to deal with and I would rather not open it to get to my usb key which is hidden inside it and I dont have another one handy at the momen.


Is there a way to update to Scale from Core simply with GUI or command line tools ?

I have 3 file servers in operation connected through a 40GBE switch. One is a Norco 4224 with 24 drives running Nappit, a Supermicro with 36 drives running FreeNAS v11 and a Chenbro with 45 drives running FreeNAS v11.3. I also have a another server with Open Media Vault that isn't being used at the moment.

I am interested in the idea of setting up a cluster using TrueNAS scale when the stable version is released but there doesn't seem to be much info on TrueNAS scale and how to setup nodes...

Is there any guides or info on how to set up a multi node system?

Hi all,

I just wanted to report back my findings after my Asrock c2750d4i board froze one day after about 4 years of flawless service with ESXI (and freeNAS initially).
The unit restarted fine but froze again after a couple of hours and then it wouldn't start. I could access the IPMI interface but that only displayed 3 voltages.

Choppy play with Plex+Chromecast?

Running TrueNAS-12.0-U2.1 with Plex media server and Chromecast Ultra connected to a wired 1Gbit Cat6 connection. There is no transcoding and I'm streaming a low 10Mbps (1MB/s), yet the video played on my TV is jittery, is like every few seconds there are few frames missing. The audio plays properly in sync. Playing the file directly from NAS on my Mac is perfect, no jittering,

Any idea how to fix this? It is extremely annoying and quite unwatchable...

Curious.

Is the plan for people to migrate a CORE deployment to SCALE ?

had a loo at Scale and really like what I saw, but it crashed a couple of times on me, so ye def not ready to run the house on, yet. But would def like to look at it when it is more stable.

Sparse ZVOL disk space consumption for compressed VMs

I think I posted about this a while back, I still don't know what I did to achieve it.

I have 4 VMs on a drive, using ztd compression and they are consuming very little disk space.






You can see that my UbuntuVM has an 80GB hard disk, only 33% used (25GB) and it's using, 21.4GB on the drive itself.
I do not recall making these ZVOLS with sparse ticked, I did however, zfs send / recv them off the disk at...

I had the primary OS drive fail over the weekend and replaced it. I reloaded the OS with a fresh download of 12.0-U2.1 and after the initial login, I reloaded the config from my last backup. Everything "looked good" till I started working on the AD Shares and then all went WACKO!!
From what I can tell, it looks like winbind is the issue, but not exactly sure.

When running a few simple commands...

Hi all,

I need your help , i have one freenas system with 2 x 500 GB of HDD , we build this freenas for nextcloud apps on the jail.
i set 2 x 500 GB of HDD as mirror ( RAID 1 ) .

Now , i need to replace both of hdd with the 2 x 6TB of HDD.
Please let me know , how can i replace 2 x 500 GB of hdd with 2 x 6 TB of hdd , without reinstall freenas or nextcloud on jail, because the nextcloud already running, and users already upload their file to nextcloud.

no pull replication from freenas to truenas.

We would like to update Freenas to TrueNAS but make a replication backup first.
So we'd like to go from FreeNAS-11.3-U1 to TrueNAS-12.0-U2.1.
But nothing gets replicated

I configured a replication backup as below on TrueNAS to pull it from Freenas.

Nothing gets replicated, nothing gets logged in (/var/logs/ ... )
Neither does manual replication work.

Hi all

So I went out to get a 8TB Seagate backup drive as a cold storage and I'm trying to copy files from my NAS to it now and I'm getting a horrible transfer speed (average 900 kbytes/s)

I probably also have it connected in the most inefficient way, but transfer speeds should not be that low at all, even going from the NAS to my PC.
I have the backup drive plugged into my windows machine, so I am transferring from NAS across the network to my machine to USB backup drive.

Hello there,

I am here to get some techincal advice on trueNAS.
Currently, I am building three Virtualbox systems
- one trueNAS for iSCSI, one client1 (window server 2019) and
one client2 (window server 2019) to test faileover functions.

With help of many youtube channels, I managed to start iSCSI service
and iscsi-intiator to connect iSCSI from two client windows.
I used ZVOL to make iSCSI.
