After yesterday's update, SMB won't start. I think it was having issues ever since the upgrade from Core, but now things show up in Task Manager:
sharing.smb.sync_registry
Error: [ENXIO] Registry calls not permitted when ctdb unhealthy.
AND
smb.configure15.00%
Waiting for ctdb to become healthy.
Instead of troubleshooting this, can I just clear out any SMB shares or configuration and start clean?

Hi all!
I have a 2x TrueNAS scale server implementation with iSCSI VMFS6 datastores configured for ESXi. Both servers are running the latest Scale release (22.02 RC2). Due to something completely unrelated to VMWare, I wound up rebuilding one of the servers and re-configured everything from scratch. I configured the iSCSI share identically to the way they were before, and identically to how they are configured on the second server. The ESXi hosts can connect to and read the volumes just...

I hope this is the right forum.
Here’s the issue. We have TrueNAS running just fine. You can ping the world and other servers on the network. All is well to this point. We have other approximately 10 other TrueNAS servers (misc SuperMicro hardware, nearly all Dual Xeon V2 CPU, mix of 32-64Gb RAM, etc). We have been doing this ever since like FreeNAS 7 or maybe a bit earlier.
However the following has us puzzled (and we are likely just missing something stupid). We have one of the...

Ive been fighting with rsync trying to do a complete dump of 1 truenas machine to another (machine 2 is just a backup of machine 1). Machine 1 is being decommsioned and rebuilt (the drives are being reused, but going into a clean TrueNAS build with new hardware).
Anyway, im trying to rsync from Machine 1 to Machine 2. and for the live of me, its driving me crazy
if i try to run rsync (CLI) as root (no user) it prompts me for a password (which, apparently i dont have and cant...

I'm new to TrueNAS, I'm trying to do a fair amount with it from the get go and I'm going to use an old computer to host a number of things;
- Wordpress Sandbox for web development
- SAB downloader
- Plex Host
- some other project types as well.
For some reason I've run into loads of issues try to get started, including not being able to install apps and flip flopping between letting me create jails and then not giving me and SSL permissions.
I'm also getting VNET issues which I...

So I have successfully installed the MineOS Plugin, created a world and can access it locally.
I then used DuckDNS and set up a URl, Accessed my Router (Xfinity) and set a port forward to 25565 (Minecraft) . I also set the IP as reserved.
My son tested it and it worked one time.
I then was trying to copy a world plugin for the game and may have messed something up trying to gain access to the Jail.
Currently I cannot access the Minecraft world remotely, I also used an port checker...

So, couple of questions before I start a new setup. I have now a jury rigged setup with OMV and USB (garbage :fire:) storage, running on a notebook that I use a bunch of docker stuff to run plex/media organizers/etc. I am getting a real server with real connectors for disks, but that server doesn't have a good video card and the plex situation may not be ideal (maybe I add a video card for transcoding later, but that would need docker/nvidia runtime support). I think I can probably run...

Hello,
I'm fairly new to TrueNAS and SAS (I did read through the sticky posts and HW guides to get myself familiarized) in general although not new to building my own rigs. I have read and re-read through so many various builds/recommendations and guides that my head's spinning at the moment. I would like to get a sniff test from the community at large on what I've settled on below if possible to get a clear idea of the path I'm going down and thank you in advance.
Existing Setup:...

Hi All,
I wanted to run my backup idea through you guys who have been doing this for a while. I have a 3 disk single zfs pool with all 3 disks in mirror configuration. The disks will be using zfs native dataset encryption.
I would like to take 1 of the disks “offline” (using the offline command) and store it offsite for a few months to provide redundancy against physical damage to the server. The offsite disk will be reintroduced to the pool months later and “onlined” into the pool. The...

Hello,
I have been using vlan's for ages ...... but for some stupid reason!, I do not manage to define a vlan in TrueNAS SCALE (RC2) ........
Normally
- I define a vlan (no IP-address)
- a bridge and assign the vlan to the bridge (no IP-address)
- the vlan is of course related to a subnet lets say 192.168.a.0/24 and a gateway lets say 192.168.a.1
- some application connected to the bridge listening to one or more ip's
However ...... using scale, if I define a vlan ..... I
have to...

So, I am quite new to FreeNAS. I recently got a server up and running with the newest version of FreeNAS. I have a single raidz2 pool with 4 6TB drives. I am liking everything so far except that it seems like it takes an act of congress to copy files from a USB device connected to the server tower to the raidz2 pool. I am wanting to make this our home media server and as I'm ripping movies, the performance of samba over the network just doesn't seem fast enough for bulk transfers. If I just...

After upgrading to TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02-RC.2 within a day or so I started to get alerts on this and next minute I get an all clear.
Here is the message I receive. Also, I have received alerts about a pool off-line and then it will come right back on-line but i dont get any message like the boot-pool.
I do have 2 servers running and both have pushed out this error.
New alerts:
- Failed to check for alert BootPoolStatus: concurrent.futures.process._RemoteTraceback: """ Traceback...

Hi,
is there a possibility to set the -i flag with Truenas Apps?
I am trying to run beardedio/terraria container - but I am getting an error.
According to the FAQ:
The server returns a "System.NullReferenceException" exception when loading a world. Help!
The server requires a tty connection, so when starting the server via docker run make sure to include the -it flag. Or if running using docker-compose make sure to add tty: true (see this
issue)
I cant find a way in the app...

I've used FreeNAS as a media vault for .iso copies of my DVD and BluRay discs for years, accessing them via a KDLINKS A400 Android streaming box. This lets me select a movie to watch from my library without getting up from my seat. I have been EXTREMELY satisfied with this.
Since my FreeNAS box is getting a little long in the tooth, I figured it was time to build a new machine with new hardware and current software. I put together a similar box and installed TrueNAS-12.0.U7, created a SMB...

Hello! I built a all nvme freenas with the following specs in Sep 2019:
- SuperServer 2028U-TN24R4T+
- SuperMicro X10DRU-i+
- 2 x Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3
- 384GB (24 x 16GB) 2RX4 PC4-2133P DDR4 MEMORY
- 24 x Intel DC P3600 SSD 800GB NVMe PCIe 3.0
After installing freenas 11.2 I found out that after adding 18th disk, it started to throw "nvme missing interrupt" error. I started to look around and found some know issues with freebsd that was fixed (
freebsd bug) so I was hoping...

How can I diagnose this, does anyone know?
No ping response, I click on VNC and it says no connection.
Is there something from the TrueNAS CLI as root I can do, to inspect it?
Some kind of bhyve command?
If it is the VM genuinely hanging, what can I do within ubuntu? I know dmesg is a useful thing to show what occurred in the current boot, is there some kind of previous log I can inspect for the last boot? (dmesg.old?)
