I'm on TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02-RC.2 and have always had really strange unreliable and frequently slow behavior when trying to copy files from my Macs to the new NAS system I've built up. My pools are simple mirrors and I'm sharing with SMB. I started out with standard 1Gbe and slowly moved up to 2.5Gbe and now have a 10Gbe link to my main MacBook Pro. Hello, I got a degraded status error today, looking for some assistance in checking what's wrong before I throw parts at a problem.
This disk is part of a special vdev mirror for metadata.
I've started a scrub, waiting for it to finish, will post results then.

TrueNAS SCALE newb here. Didn't expect to need help right off the starting line but here I am. I did some quick searches here and nothing similar appeared.
System details are in my signature. I used Rufus to create the USB install media. I boot into it, installation goes precisely as expected. Looking to build a single do-it-all box for a small business. Box would serve as both a file storage NAS and platform of a handful of VMs.
I like the idea of being able to do it all from TrueNAS SCALE, having a single UI to handle everything.
That said, Proxmox has a better UI for handling VMs (the ability to snapshot the VM and its meta at the same time is particularly nice).

i updated my Truenas a few days ago and yesterday when I was trying to change a user password I tried to log in and the webpage was not working so I decided to do a restart of the server, and since then I am not able to use the machine and have data and few plugins that I don't have any back from them, so really need to get this working any help would be appreciated thanks,

Hello everyone, just created a TrueNAS server and am importing the contents of an NTFS disk which contained my Windows backups (about 1.5TB). After an hour task manager shows progress as 0%.

However, am seeing the used space in my pool continue to climb. I'm assuming I should ignore the task manager and that the import is proceeding properly?

All I want to do is make a simple network folder, that can be accessed from every Windows machine in the network without needing to enter any credentials. Like if I'd share a folder on a Windows machine and set the permissions to full access for everyone.
Seems overly complicated, or am I just missing something?
All the tutourials and other threads about this that I found are out of date and refare to older verisons.

Wenn ich den ersten Snapshot eines Datensatzes anlege, müssten für mein Verständnis alle Dateien im Datensatz einmal in den Snapshot wandern. Pleased to let users of the nightly train know, that work on a new CLI interfaces has now landed in the SCALE nightly images, and will be available in the upcoming 21.02 release in the next few weeks.

It seems like there are lot of guides here on installing Nextcloud, and a number of people reporting problems with many of them. So, I figured, why not write another one? The difference between this method and the others is that this method employs a script to create the jail, install all the relevant packages, and configure them. My thought/hope is that by scripting the installation and setup, a lot of the PEBCAK-type errors that come up in such a complex installation can be avoided...

Hello,
I made myself a small server that has 2 network cards. The extra card is mounted at boot time with a PostInit kldload/mnt/NAS/Documents/Documents/if_re.ko.
The problem is that no IP address is assigned. I have to enter this manually so far.
Is there a way to enter the IP also with a script? Or another option?

Hi all,
Hi all. I have a used Gigabyte MD70-HB0 motherboard. Unfortunately I am unable to login to the BMC. When prompted for a username and password I have tried the default admin / password with no success.
Is there any way the reset this back to default with local access / jumpers?
Any info would be grateful as the Gigabyte manual only mentions resetting to factory default once logged into the BMC.

I have some questions/looking for advice on some SSD pool performance and optimizations.
The setup
I am running a Truenas Scale 22.02-RC.2 deployment in VMWare. I have 2x LSI SAS2308 HBA cards passed through to the VM. I have 48 GB Ram and 4 vCPU assigned to the machine. Everything works well, except for read write transfer speeds. The host has Intel X520 10GBe cards installed, and I am using a VMXNET3 adapter for networking.
