I can't upgrade in GUI. Same in CLI:
root@nas3[~]# cat /etc/version
22.02-MASTER-20220205-112923
root@nas3[~]# cli
[nas3]> system update update
[0%] Retrieving update manifest...
[0%] Verifying existing update...
[50%] Reading update file...
Error: Unable to downgrade from 22.02-MASTER-20220205-112923 to 22.02.1-MASTER-20220207-152925
So how to switch train to 0.2.1-MASTER (or to stay on head) ?

Choosing a PSU for large number of drives (not asking which, but HOW)

Hey all,

I'm not asking for help choosing a PSU, i'm asking for your thought processes in choosing a PSU. Not considering quality, efficiency etc etc... more the number of sata or molex plugs (depending if backplane or direct to drive power is used). Is looking at the number of plugs a consideration on those of you who have had to source a PSU requiring 6+ molex plugs for a large backplane, or 16+ sata plugs, or is a look for a modular system with enough peripherals outlets and get custom...

Hi all:

I finally got this working after a couple of false starts in the past. This post is NOT a step-by-step guide. It's a fresh recollection from my admittedly skimpy notes, but I think it hits all the major points. YMMV, etc.

I did this in a fresh install of the most recent NextCloud ("NC") plugin (v19.0.3) running on FreeNAS-11.3-U4.1 (hardware specs in my sig).

First, of course, go ahead and install the plugin and test that it's working at the IP address you specified...

Need help - I'm a Linux n00b and two of my network adapters don't work

Hi! So this week I set up Scale 22.02-RC.2 on my 8th-gen Intel NUC. The internal NIC works fine (Intel I219-V chipset, 1GbE), as does an external UGREEN CM275 USB-C adapter (Realtek RTL8153B chipset, also 1GbE). However, neither of the following upgrades seem to work out of the box:

Sabrent TH-S3EA USB-C (Aquantia AQC-107 chipset, 10GbE, Linux drivers here)
Sabrent NT-S25G USB-C (Realtek RTL8156 chipset, 2.5GbE, Linux drivers here)

Neither are recognized as network...

Hi All -

Which of these two controllers are preferred and why - LSI 9211-i in IT mode or reflashing the PERC H710 to IT mode? I believe both are hardware-based controllers, but I am unsure which TrueNAS prefers or which offers best performance.

Thanks

I'm using TrueNAS Scale (baremetal) as storage for vSphere 7.0, all systems have Mellanox Connectx-5 cards that are 100Gbps that support RDMA.

I would like to see if TN Scale is able to support NFS over RDMA?

SCALE 22.02-RC.1 Feature Flags and Import

Hey folks! Quick update today, we know some users have been bitten by the issue with unsupported Feature Flags on zpool import on SCALE. We've since started gathering more information on this problem, how to detect it and how to resolve here:

We'll update with more information as we go, if additional solutions present themselves.

Note: This is unrelated to the issue with importing pools where SMB +...

How to boot Supermicro X9SCM-F with all SATA ports used for pool?

It seems that Supermicro X9SCM-F does not support booting from PCIe NVMe drive. I went through TrueNAS installation, installer correctly detected NVMe drive in PCIe slot and installed OS there. However, after reboot, I don't have BIOS option to boot from that drive.

I searched over forums and it seems that I'm out of luck. There are mentions that BIOS modding is required but I'm unable to tell for sure if that will allow the board to boot TrueNAS from this drive as in those threads Windows...

Multipath disks in Scale RC.2?

$

I just migrated my pools over to Scale RC.2 on a new box, and noticed none of my disks are being seen as multipath (they were under latest CORE; have been configured that way about 2 years).

Is there a plan to add disk multipathing to SCALE? Am I missing something? Typical Linux commands to identify multipath disks are not available, and I see nothing in dmesg or /dev/disk that indicates there are multiple paths available for the disks in my enclosure.

Thanks.

cannot connect to share

I have had to do a reinstall of TrueNas Scale on my Dell R720XD server - imported the previous RAID 5 which is there and setup a new user to connect to it. When I try to connect via Windows to Map Network Drive, it says it's not available even though I am inputting the correct username and password that I set up for it

Any ideas please

Thanks

Help with a simple SMB share without login

$

All I want to do is make a simple network folder, that can be accessed from every Windows machine in the network without needing to enter any credentials. Like if I'd share a folder on a Windows machine and set the permissions to full access for everyone.
Seems overly complicated, or am I just missing something?
All the tutourials and other threads about this that I found are out of date and refare to older verisons.

Wiping select files/dataset

Hello everybody!

I would like to wipe (== overwrite with zero / random) a dataset in my general purpose NAS-Pool. Temporarily moving the pool to a new drive and then dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/adaX is not an option. Is there a zfs-way of clearing a specific dataset? Otherwise: is there a way to get access to the information where a file is located on disk so that I can write a script to go through all files in the given set and selectively randomize them?
Thank you for reading through this...

After upgrade from CORE to SCALE ZFS userquota prevents user to write to dataset

$

Hello,

I upgraded from CORE to scale yesterday and for some reason I was having trouble setting up the samba share.

With the configuration from core I am not able to write to the share from windows.

it told basically, that there is no space left on the device.

but the pool itself has enough free space.

After looking around and searching the forum I found, that for some reason for my old "from CORE" dataset the userquota was set to 1T which caused my user to fail when it tried to write...
