Docker Memory Backed Volumes

I have deployed a ZoneMinder docker on Scale 22.02 RC2 and I've used the memory backed volume for a /dev/shm. That worked perfectly for the performance issues that ZM had but the device seems to default to 32GB. Anyone know of a way to adjust that size of the volume created?

Was the ability to change the default certification removed in Scale? or relocated elsewhere? (In core, iirc, it used to be under General > Settings. Scale does not seem to have the option)

I've imported a number of pools from my FreeNAS Core after committing a fresh install of SCALE and I've noticed that only a handful of swap md devices were created from the pools of devices with swap allocated on them.

Docker App Inaccessible When Using External Interface / Different IP Than Host

So I'm testing Scale RC 2. I had a FreeBSD VM that couldn't reach the Scale host, and I was able to fix that by adding a network bridge br0 with the same IP address as the main interface. Now the interface itself of my NIC shows no IP address. Everything seemed to be working fine.

However now I got to testing docker. I decided to spin up Heimdall with port forwarding 9000 -> 80. It works and I can access it if I don't add anything under the Networking - Add external Interfaces...

TrueNAS CORE 12.0-U8, Task Manager claims smart.test.wait is indefinitely stuck at 99%

This seems to only happen with manually invoked S.M.A.R.T. tests. The Task Manager will display a running smart.test.wait that is stuck indefinitely at 99%.

I can confirm with smartctl -a /dev/xyz that the test indeed finished in two minutes with no errors. However, the Task Manager GUI claims the test is still running, currently at 99%. :oops...

Collaborator Community Slack Instance

Since the announcements of TrueNAS 12.0 CORE and TrueNAS SCALE, we've seen quite a bit of increased activity in community members helping to collaborate on various parts of the software. Due to this, we've decided to go ahead and create a Collaborator Slack instance which can be used to further streamline efforts to develop TrueNAS. This will allow a bit more dynamic conversation with iX engineers and fellow developers.

This instance is invite-only, so you'll need to send me or...

Hi All

I'm new to TrueNAS Scale and need help getting started. lets start from the beginning. I have a Dell Optiplex 7040 i5-6500 12GB RAM, 256GiB SanDisk_X400_M.2 and 2 x 500 GiB Seagate ST500LM021

My objective is simple I want to use TrueNAS scale as a file share for home, I have 4 users including myself. Using a mix of Windows 10 Pro, Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu 20.04 PCs . I read the instructions https://www.truenas.com/docs/scale/ and looked for info on this forum and other...

DNS resolves but no packets return

I have a TrueNAS server (clean install of latest stable build) and it can't reach the update server or any of the plugin directories. I know it is having to do with my network configuration but I'm at a loss as to where to look. Ping lookups will resolve to the IP address but fails to return any packets. Does someone have an idea of what network settings I am forgetting to correct?

SCALE 22.02-RC.2 Now Available

Installing SCALE - Best Practices? I don't see these in the install doc - comments?

Morning All -

I'm exploring moving away from TrueNAS CORE which has served me quite well and ran on eSXI 6 for years. From my understanding, TrueNAS Scale will allow me to part ways with VMWare ESXi and allow me to simply install Scale on bare metal and how VMs within.

For hardware, this would be running on a Del PowerEdge T620, with 2 Intel Xeon E5s @ 3.20GHz and 128 GB of ECC Ram with 8 (4TB) hard drives on a dedicated SAS controller.

My questions are three fold:

1) Given my...

Hi,

Got a used Supermicro chassis, everything seems to be working but I am not sure if the backplane jumpers are correctly configured, I am afraid that something will break if not. Aside from the bakplane (SAS 743TQ) I a using a Broadcom LSI 9201-8i HBA and 4 WD Red HDs.

Can someone please tell me the correct way to place the jumpers? The instructions mention a default I²C setting, is this right or should SGPIO be used in this case?

Thanks for your help

Hi! So this week I set up Scale 22.02-RC.2 on my 8th-gen Intel NUC. The internal NIC works fine (Intel I219-V chipset, 1GbE), as does an external UGREEN CM275 USB-C adapter (Realtek RTL8153B chipset, also 1GbE). However, neither of the following upgrades seem to work out of the box:

Sabrent TH-S3EA USB-C (Aquantia AQC-107 chipset, 10GbE, Linux drivers here)
Sabrent NT-S25G USB-C (Realtek RTL8156 chipset, 2.5GbE, Linux drivers here)

Neither are recognized as network...

SSD boot drive connected to Supermicro SATA DOM connector keeps failing

Hello Everyone!

I am using a Supermicro X10DRH-CT in a Supermicro 2U chassis that I bought from Ebay. The chassis came with a rear cage with a back plane for 2-2.5 SSDs that can be used as OS drives. The server came preconfigured with the cage attached to what Supermicro refers to SATA DOM ports (they are orange and apparently they are self powered to support DOM SATA drives).
After installing a pair of Crucial MX500, 480GB brand new disks, I installed TrueNAS 12.0-U8 and mirrored the 2...

ESXi > Scale

Hi folks,

I'm testing virtualization on Scale and seems to be working fine; creating, cloning, auto start, all good so far. Even a Win11 VM installed without any issues:

Has anyone converted ESXi VMs to Scale? I imagine step 1 would be convert the VMKD disk to a compatible format - not sure as I see zvols created for each VM, so assume those are the disks (?)

If someone can direct me to some docs for my reading pleasure I'd appreciate.

Thanks!
