So I have my TrueNAS Scale install done but I want to know if there's a way to make part of the SSD that it's install on into cache for my main pool.

I was doing a search to see if there was a graphical file manager that, for example, Qnap offers with their NAS units/in their NAS operating system and so far, I haven't really been able to find one following this thread:

In there, one of the other community members mentioned using either cpio -p or rsync -a to copy and/or move data around.

2x LSI MegaRAID SAS 6 Gbps RAID HBA
2x Samsung EVO 850 1 TB SATA 6 Gbps SSD connected to the SATA ports on the motherboard
6x HGST 3 TB SATA 3 Gbps 7200 rpm HDDs
Supermicro SC826TQ chassis. I don't remember the PSU wattage, but it is the variant that also has 7 LP slots.
I'm trying to do a fresh install of TrueNAS Core 12.0-U1.1 on my older server.

Hello,
We have setup a TrueNAS scale system for both personal use and use during our large LAN partied. Today we noticed that all of our VM's VNC are accessible directly through the network without a password. Being that TrueNAS does not include any sort of firewall I think it would be imperative to password protect the VM's.... This feature is not only built into libvirt but its just as easy for the database to store the password for the novnc.
I mean what is the purpose of password...

I want to do a clean install of TrueNAS 12 rather than keep upgrading over and over like I have been for the several previous versions, but I don't have anywhere to temporarily put the 3TB of data I have on the disks. Is it possible to somehow import the disks as an existing pool after installation?

Hey all,
I'm not asking for help choosing a PSU, i'm asking for your thought processes in choosing a PSU. Not considering quality, efficiency etc etc... more the number of sata or molex plugs (depending if backplane or direct to drive power is used). Hi,
Does block level storage for iSCSi backup to Backblaze cloud provider?
I cannot see the volume in the config list
As you cannot see, i have a volume inside /mnt/ds1-main, but its not listed as a directory to sync to Backblaze.
How does this work or not work? :)

Fore some reason the webui isn't showing the login page anymore. Luckily i enabled SSH but even there login is delayed ans shows an error.
After a reboot it is back to normal but seems to fail again after a application refresh catalog.

Stopping or restarting middlewared doesn't seem to work

It seems that Supermicro X9SCM-F does not support booting from PCIe NVMe drive. I went through TrueNAS installation, installer correctly detected NVMe drive in PCIe slot and installed OS there. However, after reboot, I don't have BIOS option to boot from that drive.
I searched over forums and it seems that I'm out of luck. There are mentions that BIOS modding is required but I'm unable to tell for sure if that will allow the board to boot TrueNAS from this drive as in those threads Windows...

I am trying to use Scale on my NAS.
I am using AsRock B450M-F and Ryzen 3600 and 4x 32GB Mustang 2666Mhz ECC UDIMM memory.
I am getting random restarts, I was able to reproduce them immediately with:

Nothing in logs.
When I lowered the memory speed to 2400Mhz, restarts disappeared with stress-ng, but I am getting this in log:

Hi All,
Which one or combination of the following will give me the best of VM and NAS?
ESXi/TrueNAS/Proxmox/QEME/KVM
I wanted a NAS. I also want VMs. I am purchasing a Supermicro motherboard X10SRW-F with a Xeon processor and 2x16GB DIMM ECC. The motherboard has 10 SATA onboard split across 2 or 3 controllers. I am not sure which of these ports will actually be available, or whether I will be able to pass through these onboard controllers.

I recently upgraded from a previous version of freeNAS to trueNAS. I had 1 SMB share at that time that was working but now is not and I tried creating another one with an old 2TB drive. The 8TB drive was working until I mucked something up but I have yet to get the 2TB drive working. I installed TrueNas 3 days ago and since yesterday i keep dropping internet connection and then i can access the server. It reads the following "Connecting to TrueNAS ... Make sure the TrueNAS system is powered on and connected to the network.". Can someone please assist me.

It is not easy to find guides for FreeBSD. In this guide, I explain with a near step by step how to:
- install a KDE5 or GENOME 3 GUI in a jail
- remote control the jail using either VNC or the X11 forwarding
- install VNC as a service started on jail boot
- properly setup a secure SSH connection, SSH tunnel and X11 forwarding through SSH

Looking for guidance regards the following "issue/bug" please
Have spun up a temporary TrueNAS box running TrueNAS-12.0-U8 and joined to domain
This is on a
- Lenovo Thinkstation 20
- Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5540 @ 2.53GHz
- 8GB ram
- One mirrored pair of 2TB disks
- dataset configured for smb
The problem encountered is that not all groups from the Domain are showing. Most notably yourdomain\administrators
