Samba won't work anymore from autostart (but it does when started later!)

Hello!

I have been using my formerly FreeNAS, now "TrueNAS-12.0-STABLE - Release Train"-server for some years now.
Recently I had to use one old Windows PC with XP and wanted to make the shares available for the old PC.
so I enabled "SMB v1" in the options of the SMB service.
It all worked like. a charm. I also disabled SMB v1 afterwards, as I usually don't need v1 support.

But since then I have a weird problem: SMB shares cannot be accessed directly after booting the server.
I do actually...

[ Before anyone yells at me: I’VE tried to Search for this and haven’t found anything useful in RECENT posts, if there is an answer could you point me to the solution; OR for Posting this in the wrong place ]

Hello All,

Over xMass, I helped my brother get his Synology NAS up running. I love my FreeNas for cost and expandability, but Synology web graphical user interface, included services and apps was impressive. The BIGGEST thing that blew me away was the speed of folder refresh...

Mounting Cluster Volumes?

I have 3 servers
So I created a 200GB Dispersed Cluster Volume for testing.
How do I create a iscsi or NFS mount to this Volume? When I click iscsi up top it has me select 3 servers again.
or do I have the wrong idea.

what is the idea/plan for clustered storage?

Sorry if this should be in the Scale forum instead, from what I understood the clustering part is going to be more a feature of Command so asking here.

In general I'm just trying to learn more about the high availability/load balancing options that are going to be available. I know right now creating 'Cluster Volumes' really is just making glusterfs volumes available to mount from other servers, which is perfectly fine for our linux servers that just need access to some sort of network...

Anybody get up and running with a Gluster cluster? Experience so far?

I've been experimenting with Gluster on some small scale hardware, and will be building TrueNAS machines to move my homelab data set. It has not been a flawless experience, but I'm ready to move forward with new storage nodes, TrueNAS Scale, TrueCommand, and more.

Specifically:

  • 1x Node: HP Microserver Gen 10 Plus nodes, 64Gb memory, 4x 18Tb Seagate EXOS setup in RaidZ2
  • Then setup this node as a Distributed in TrueCommand, and mount my containers and shares using the Gluster...

Possible to upgrade Kernel?

I recently bought a 5700g APU to use with Scale so I can get my VM working.

5700G temperature monitoring is supported with the 5.15 Linux kernel.

Is it possible to update the kernel from within Scale or do I need to rebuild Scale with a newer kernel version? If I have to rebuild, do you have a guide I can follow?

Hey,
I just launched a new TrueNAS scale server and want to do full auto dailt backups, Storage pools and truenas config.

What would be the best way to do it?

I currently have another TrueNAS located off site that is used to backup Clients NAS using S3.

But everytime i try to connect my local TrueNAS to the backup TrueNAS using S3 it gives me an error about certificate: " certificate signed by unknown authority "

But the Certificate was issued through SSLS/sectigo and was uploaded to the...

Easiest/Simplest way to get a custom docker image into TrueNAS Scale?

$

I have created a docker image of a personal application and can not for the life of me figure out how to get TrueNAS Scale to see it?
It is not in a registry for it to be pulled from, because it is a private application.
Do I really have to jump through those hoops, get a private repo set up and all that just to load a SINGLE tiny docker image into TrueNAS Scale?

Please advise if I am missing something or if as the Mandalorians say; "this is the way".

SMB share is writable via NFS protocol and therefore susceptible to CVE 2021-20316

I upgraded to 12.0-8 and once it rebooted, I am getting a number of the below error messages.
SMB share is writable via NFS protocol and therefore susceptible to CVE 2021-20316.

I use a combination of Linux and Windows clients, so the home directories are mapped with nfs and smb as the login can be from either client.

AdGuardHome Shutting Down

My AdGuardHome plugin is shutting itself down, every day or so. It is not usually at the same time.

The jail appears to be running, I can get to the shell. I can then enter # service adguardhome start and it starts up.

Can someone point me to some troubleshooting ? Is there a log file anywhere that might point to a cause ?

Is there a way to auto-start the service if it stops ?

Thanks for any help.

George.

Multipath disks in Scale RC.2?

$

I just migrated my pools over to Scale RC.2 on a new box, and noticed none of my disks are being seen as multipath (they were under latest CORE; have been configured that way about 2 years).

Is there a plan to add disk multipathing to SCALE? Am I missing something? Typical Linux commands to identify multipath disks are not available, and I see nothing in dmesg or /dev/disk that indicates there are multiple paths available for the disks in my enclosure.

Thanks.

Adventures in TrueNAS SCALE on QNAP Hardware

BACKGROUND

4+ months ago, I got fed up with the QNAP QTS hardcoded credentials and vulnerabilities, and successfully installed TrueNAS CORE on all three of my QNAP systems. I was able to get all the services I need (APACHE, LACP, RSYNC, SMB, TFTP, TM) and even a Windows 10 VM running.

I ultimately ended up replacing the OEM 512MB eUSB DOMs with 16GB SLC eUSB DOMs for the boot-pool.

I decided to take TrueNAS-SCALE-21.08-BETA.1 for a spin on a TS-453A NAS

Hi there, i have a problem with my TrueNAS instance:
it does not have internet access - but is reacable from LAN. since this error is not there always its hard for me to even find a way how to narrow the problem down. I think it has to do with my openvpn client installation - but i am not too sure.
Is this a known error? the only thing i can figure out is that there is some kind of buffer error:

ping: sendto: No buffer space available

What can i do to fix this? Any Idea?

Help me troubleshoot PCI passthrough

Hi

I recently shutdown my ESXi server, since the only VM I had running, was a pfSense firewall.
... However I still need said firewall. And my NAS does have a bunch of NICs. So why not spin up a VM running pfSense on it! Makes perfect sense!

Now here comes my challenge: I want to passthough some NICs to my VM, but doing a prerequisite check to see if I'm even able to passthough my PCI devices I get less than desirable results:
root@truenas[~]# acpidump -t | grep DMAR...
