Unable to cast Plex to Android TV

Hello again,

I was able to setup Plex on my TrueNAS 12.0-U8, It was not straight forward but with trials and errors I get my media uploaded and ready. ( i had to use the USB trick, attached a USB drive with my media in it, then click import from the truenas UI. A lot faster than copying over the network, But the issue with that is that the media folder doesnt show in Truenas UI, only in file explorer).

Web GUI SSL Issues

Haven't seen any forums about my use case of a wildcard SSL (WCSSL) cert I have through my domain provider (NameCheap, not sure if this matters too much). To create the CSR I needed to give my provider before they could issue said WCSSL, I did the following in TrueNAS CORE v12.0-U8:
  1. Go to "System"
  2. Go to "Certificates"
  3. Click "Add"
  4. Change the following
    1. Type - CSR
    2. Under "Subject Alt. Names" I entered a couple other names for a few other services I plan on running...

Is my plan for a TrueNas Scale system achievable?

Hi everyone!

I'm considering to use TrueNas for a new NAS build but I am not sure if my plan is a good one or not.

Goal:
  • Store all our movies and pictures
  • Host Plex Server with hardware encoding (GTX 1650 super)
  • Host nextcloud server
    • LAN clients (windows) must be able to directly access their nextcloud data stored on the NAS via cifs/smb
      (it must not be required to run the nextcloud client on each windows PC and store a copy of all files locally on the client...

Can not unlock pool after upgrade to 22.02.0.1 "directory is not empty"

'/mnt/tank' directory is not empty (please provide "force" flag to override this error and file/directory will be renamed once the dataset is unlocked)

Looks like even with the pool locked I have folders named as my dataset structure on 3 of my pools experiencing this issue. On 3 other pools I do not have any directories when the pool is locked and I do not have this issue.

I can not manually delete the directories with rm -R * as root 'permission denied'.

How do I use the "force"...

I've upgraded from 12.8 to 13 beta and had no real issues except from and email every 24hrs or so with the below contents:

Mini X+ 10GbE SMB Performance w/ Scale

Has anyone else got an X+ and is attempting to utilize SMB with it? I seem to be maxing out at about 2.5Gb/s reading or writing to two mirrored SSDs in the unit.

Compared to my previous device, this is blazing fast, but a far cry from the 10Gb the network interface is capable of.

If I run the Black Magic Speed test on two separate computers agains the SMB mount at the same time, they both max our around 2.5Gb/s, which makes me think this is a limitation of the CPU in the device and how...

Hi

Anyone encountered this issue?

I have just installed TrueNAS SCALE 22.02.0.1 (latest one as of last week) for the first time, and configurations went well. I set up 6 nodes of TrueNAS SCALE with a full /etc/hosts file which I edited with the vi editor. But the /etc/hosts file resets to default (empties all my entries) after every reboot. No real harm except being a hassle.

Planning a 2x3 Distributed Replicated volume and a 4+2 Dispersed volume for Gluster testing. The 6 node Gluster...

Hallo,
ich hatte vor zwei Wochen schon einmal das Problem, dass ein Austausch einer Netzwerkkarte mein Netzwerk komplett lahmgelegt hat ( Nas Server hatte dann gar kein Netz mehr, obwohl 3 andere Karten eingebaut waren)
nach 3 stunden knobeln, habe ich in der sqllite db die beiden netzwerk-tabellen geleert.
Nun möchte ich wieder eine Netzwerkkarte ausbauen und habe schon wieder das Problem.
wie ist denn das offizielle Vorgehen für das Entfernen bitte.

Hello everyone :)

This is my first post and it is very egoistical, sorry... I just would like confirmation from experienced users that my hardware list is OK!
I made the mistake of ordering CPU+MOBO+RAM+HBA without reading the docs first and it turns out they are not good for this use-case... So I will recycle those parts for an HTPC and make a new order for my NAS but I don't want to to the same mistake twice!

I am a n00b in the NAS space so I want the simplest config possible at start...

Due to my system, despite BETA2 version, being in constant use for several private longer running projects, I could not upgrade earlier. Still, now once one of those has completed, I could dedicate a weekend for BETA2 to RC2, and afterwards to RELEASE, update. Apart from ending in the "another update to RELEASE available" issue that has already been reported here on multiple occassions, after the upgrades I've been experiencing performance issues.

Is there an option/parameter/setting where we could specify when we want the downloaded application images prunning? I mean either to manually eg. clean of old images (without related containers/pods, or eg. some old images downloaded/created during app deployment or left after the app upgrades, or some that were used for testing and might no longer even be required etc.) or to define specific frequency per day/week/month or intervals when the unused images are to be checked if no longer in...

I've been running TrueNAS in various incarnations for over 10 years, and I have finally run into a strange data loss issue that I could really use some help with. Today, I upgraded from SCALE 22.02.0 to SCALE 22.02.0.1. After the reboot, my NAS took over 15 minutes to come back up. It sat at "A start job is running for Import ZFS pools" for the full 15m8s. Configure Advanced Bridge Options (spanning tree, etc)

I have bridge setup on TrueNAS SCALE with two 10gig NICs attached. I'm looking for a way to disable STP, but I don't see a way to do this.

In other Debian installs, I would run the command "brctl stp br0 off" in order to disable STP.

brctl command is unavailable on TrueNAS SCALE and I don't see an easy way to install it.

Any ideas?

Slave a tutti avrei necessita di aggiornare da Freenas 9.2.1.8 a TreeNas ultima versione premetto che come hardware utilizzo un micro server HP ProLiant MicroServer HP N36L con 8GB di ram Ecc e Cpu Dual Core con 3 HD da 3T in Raid 5 zfs e un HD da 1T ufs singolo.

Avrei bisogno di sapere se è possibile aggiornare il tutto e quali passaggi effettuare, per limitare i rischi evitando cosi di dover fare una nuova installazione da zero.

1. I download manual 12.U8 release https://www.truenas.com/download-truenas-core/
2. Transfer via usb drive from laptop to computer (TrueNAS is offline network).
3. Verify checksum-sha256: "2728f17ea85cea07714e8636ee11d1fc1d116c3bd384829dac101a2e9462731e"
4. Navigate to TrueNAS/system/update/manual update
5. Apply Update with "TrueNAS-12.0-U8-manual-update.tar"
6. I reboots TrueNAS
7. Done this twice; same result.

Difficulties starting a new SCALE server

I'm a user of Unraid for 10 years at home and I've just discovered the new TrueNAS SCALE.
I think that it is a system with much more potential, specially on my work as administrator on a research department at university.
I'm not a novice as administrator. I know the basics on Linux and Windows Server but I'm having troubles understanding how work something so simple as sharing resources (a file server).
I'm thinking on replace my home server and build another at work, but I need to be sure...
