How to install PhotoPrism in Jail?

PhotoPrism is a server-based application for browsing, organizing and sharing photo collection.

As the title suggests, I want to install a PhotoPrism in a jail. Has anyone successfully coped with this task and how did he achieve it?

Resilvering issue/rebooting and HDD read error

Hello,

I've got a NAS running Freenas 11.3-U5 with 1 RAIDZ1 Pool of 6 * 4TB WD RED (CMR) HDD. All with 63K+ running hours. 15 days ago ada0p2 change to /dev/ada0p2 with read/writing fail. I ordered a new 4TB WD Red (CMR) HDD and I try to rebuild my NAS.
Freenas start the resilvering 10 days ago and every day, the resilvering restart when approaching 20%. It never end. On my own research I found some people talking about rebooting (properly) the system. However while I'm looking for a...

Running into some errors I haven't seen before creating a VM.
Platform: Generic

- Using different VM names not used before
- Uploading ISO and loading VM on brand new Pool / vdev

[Improvement] Unlock multiple Pools/Datasets from a single menu

Looks like "Only iX Engineers can create Improvement / Feature Ticket Types". So I guess I will post this here.

For systems with multiple passphrase encrypted Pools/Datasets you need to go to each Pool and select Unlock. If you need to do this several times it can take quite a long time as it needs to load multiple things before and after you enter the passphrase.

It would be helpful to have a main window that lists all locked Pools/Datasets in one menu so you can input all your passphases...

The Official Plugin Plex Media Server does not play videos anymore after the official update

The plugin was updated through TrueNAS web GUI (today, 28 march 2022). The update button in the plugins section on TrueNAS.
Now it is
Version: 1.25.7.5604
Plugin: plexmediaserver-plexpass
Release: 12.2-RELEASE-p15

I don't recall what the previous version was. I believe it was 1.25.6.xxxx and 12.2-RELEASE-p11. It was a fresh/clean install though.

When I now play a video I get an error message:
Playback Error
Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.

TrueNAS SCALE /etc/hosts file not persistent across reboots

Hi

Anyone encountered this issue?

I have just installed TrueNAS SCALE 22.02.0.1 (latest one as of last week) for the first time, and configurations went well. I set up 6 nodes of TrueNAS SCALE with a full /etc/hosts file which I edited with the vi editor. But the /etc/hosts file resets to default (empties all my entries) after every reboot. No real harm except being a hassle.

Planning a 2x3 Distributed Replicated volume and a 4+2 Dispersed volume for Gluster testing. The 6 node Gluster...

I've upgraded from 12.8 to 13 beta and had no real issues except from and email every 24hrs or so with the below contents:

What NVMe is best for a fusion pool?

I've been thinking about how to set up a fusion pool, as I've discussed in my last thread where I asked about PCIe adapters. My conclusion there was to wait, but I'm now reconsidering because if I'll want to do it anyway later, I'll get better results if I bite the bullet now than if I add it when the metadata has already been written to the pool because ZFS won't move it all to my shiny new special vdev.

TrueNAS SCALE 22.02.0.1 does not boot after mirrored boot-pool disk failure

One of two mirrored disks of the boot-pool failed. The system remained functional in degraded mode. The faulty drive was removed.

After a controlled restart, the system won’t boot up anymore and remains on grub prompt (grub rescue).

I would appreciate any help to bring the system back to life without reinstalling Scale?

SNMP Physical disk monitoring not showing error state

Im using PRTG to monitor my TrueNAS Scale system via SNMP to monitor the physical disks.

Last night I had a drive fail due to excessive errors (a Hot spare kicked in) however PRTG/SNMP is reporting all is ok.

Converting the MIB to PRTG doesnt seem to work (but I think thats a different issue)

HDD degraded but passing all tests.

So i noticed the other day that one of my pools was degraded.

I then went and checked if it was in warranty period and it is. Its a 3TB WD green.

When i went to put in the request to return it. I was asked for why so did some tests on the drive and all came back good. If the drive is passing all tests then why is it showing as degraded?

PRTG, ZPools and SNMP

Has anyone managed to get PRTG working with TrueNAS, monitoring the ZPool Status. I can get disk temp, throughput etc, but to be honest the only things I really care about are is the server there and Zpool Status.
Obviously if a disk goes bad I get email about it - but it would be nice to have it on PRTG.
I have imported the MIB's, tried just the one and then all of them - but I am reaching the levels of my knowledge here

My server is as follows: with 2 4 TB HDH mirrored thus being 3.51 TiB avabale for data. What services would you consider a must have on your TrueNAS (SCALE) server?

I am playing with NextCloud and Plex. Not sure what i am doing as I am new to the whole TureNAS thing.

Thanks for any advise and tips and tricks.

Server timezone keeps resetting

Whenever i'm changing the time zone of my machine to Asia/Kolkata (which is where i live) and i have a cron job that shuts it down every night but the time zone keeps resetting to america/los angeles when i save the changes and refresh the page. Any suggestions?

Truenas 12.0U1: Webdav access from Windows failed

Hi all,

I just did a fresh install of Truenas 12.0U1. Everything went fine. NFS and WebDAV shares are accessible from Linux/Unix stations in the same network.
However, if i try to connect from Windows-machines (Win7 and Win10, GUI and CLI, also in the same network) I got various error messages (1790, 59).

When using the GUI with \\Truenas-IP-ADRESS@SSL/Name-of-WebDAV-Share Windows prompted me to enter username (webdav) and password but the connection failed.

Two Tanks: Plugins only start up after reboot on one Tank

Hello everyone,

When I made my Truenas core setup about 1 year and 6 months ago, I used two Tanks. One for X and the other for Y data. I did this so I could keep data from X completely separate from data Y.

However this has become a pain when you have plugins installed on each Tank. If I select Tank 1 and reboot the Truenas sever Tank1's plugs will start up after reboot. Then I have to switch to the other Tank to then manually start up those Plugins.

Подскажите, как изменить для UrBackup (установлен в виде плагина на TrueNAS) путь для сохранения архивов. По умолчанию сохраняет бэкапы в каталог, куда установлен (в моем случае mnt/disk1/iocage/jails/urbackup/root/mnt/backups/urbackup, относительно UrBackup /mnt/backups/urbackup).
Хотелось бы на другой пул, который на этом же сервере.

Hello,

I'm putting together a new server for Scale with an LSI 9300-16i and LSI 9200-8e for the spinning disks. I just have a few questions that I haven't found solid answers for with Scale:

LSI 9300-16i
  • What is the recommended firmware version? Most recent forum messages I could find seem to point toward 16.00.12.00 (available in these forums), and sas3flash on Scale seemed to be for 16.x.
  • What boot rom is recommended?
