I'm unable to delete folders on an NFS share I'm running from TrueNAS using Linux. I've tried it with two different versions of Linux: PopOS, which uses the Nautilus file manager, and Mint Mate, which uses the Caja file manager. I receive an error message that reads:

"You do not have sufficient permissions to delete the folder [...] Input/output error."

I am able to:
  • Delete files on this NFS share using Linux;
  • Delete folders and files on this NFS share using MacOS...

Here in the pic my jail: do you think I should uprade release versione up to the newest?

Help speed up my Dell C6220 hypervisors

I'm using three nodes of a Dell PowerEdge C6220 unit as a Proxmox VE cluster (which uses my TrueNAS CORE box for some of its storage, hence a tenuous connection to this forum). ISOs and some low-demand VM disk images are stored on the TrueNAS server, but most of the live disk images are stored on a Ceph pool consisting of three, 2TB Samsung EVO 860 SSDs, one in each node. The nodes are linked together via 10 Gb fiber with Chelsio T420 cards. And while performance is a whole lot better...

what are the optimal macOS settings?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone is willing to help identify a good/sound set of configuration options for a predominantly macOS client environment for TrueNAS on reasonably "okay/average" hardware that people may have lying around. ← i.e. typical home/hobby use.

Regarding setting up SMB shares (being macOS's default protocol), I've seen many options listed all over the web such as:
fruit:locking=netatalk fruit:metadata=netatalk fruit:resource=file streams_xattr:prefix=user...

Hi

As the title says, are there a way from the GUI to add a hot spare to an existing (mirrored) pool?

Thanks in advance

Migrating standalone Linux Nextcloud into Nextcloud Plugin

I am currently running a Nextcloud instance on a Debian box and I want to migrate this to a Truenas Nextcloud Plugin.

I have investigated the normal "Migrate to another Server" documentation https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/admin_manual/maintenance/migrating.html but I do have some question because this document is a little bit different from my use case.

My plan is roughly

- create a new plugin/jail
- delete mysql db in jail
- delete filedirectory in jail
- create mysql...

Hi, I have to report a problem on the iSCSI wizard when try to upgrade or clean install to SCALE 22.02.1 on a proxmox as a VM, when I step by step to fill the information followed by the iSCSI wizard, after all submitted and start to creation but the wizard will continue to keep to show to reloading screen and no further message shown, and I try to wait a few minute but I see the iSCSI page is no iSCSI configuration created in the WebUI, but manual create iSCSI configuration is no problem.

GUI Timeout

Hello community, is the GUI timeout introduced with TrueNAS 12?
I never experienced GUI timeout with v11, and now, after upgrading to 12 I got autologout after some minutes. I can't see any settings to disable that behaviour, so, is there any other way?
Thank you.

Should I install dbus in a iocage jail?

$

I'm following this guide How to access jails via hostname using mDNS to access my plex server by hostname instead of ip.

I get to the last step to start the service, but it will not work:

Code:
root@plex:/ # service dbus start
dbus does not exist in /etc/rc.d or the local startup
directories (/usr/local/etc/rc.d), or is not executable

I've doubled checked the steps and the only mention of dbus is sysrc dbus_enable="YES" so I'm confused about what is supposed to happen here...

Replication task incrementation for big dataset

Hi,

I currently operate 2 Truenas servers with both 1 Petabyte of storage. One is used as active and the other one is just a mirror.

I want to make sure I get the most efficient workflow to replicate onto the mirror, as it will take weeks to do the initial replication (500TB).

What I did so far:

- Manual snapshot on the "active" server
- Created a one time replication task to replicate this snapshot onto the mirror

It's currently transferring (about 20TB a day).

My question is how...

Plug NAS Unit into Switch, Whole Network goes Down

$

Hello, I am fairly new to the TrueNAS Community and the forums. Trying to help my boss with an issue we have going on.

The issue is whenever we plug the NAS unit into a switch via fiber so it's connected to the network, it ends up taking the entire network down. We have checked that here isn't any overlapping vlan issues or any switch loops happening. We were thinking maybe need to change the MAC Address on the physical ethernet port itself.

If you all need anymore information (which I'm...

Correct way to setup a network bridge for VMs, installed apps using Let's Encrypt cert, access server, etc via domain for cert.

So I ran into the "VMs cannot see host" as I could not map a network share in Windows Server VM.

I found a video online that got me to create a bridge and I was able to then map a drive in the Windows VM. Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7clQw132w58

It was very helpful. Now I'm onto my next configuration to get my Let's Encrypt setup. But I believe something just isn't configured correctly. I've setup Let's Encrypt to get a cert for a domain, lets say...
