TrueNAS Scale with ASM1062 SATA not detecting disks

I just received a controller based on the ASM1062 chipset (ST LAB A-590). It has two internal mini-SAS connectors SFF-8087 and accomodates 8 drives in total.

It detects all drives when booting into Windows 11, but it cannot be configured in BIOS due to my MB chipset not supporting legacy option rom properly. I connected it to a different system forcing legacy BIOS (non-UEFI) and it is configurable there.

I am only intending to use this controller as an HBA.

In TrueNAS Scale the...

Let's Encrypt with FreeNAS 11.1 and later - Automatically obtain and update TLS Certificates from Let's Encrypt

Integrating Let’s Encrypt TLS Certificates with FreeNAS

FreeNAS has long had the ability to use HTTPS for the web GUI, but that has usually meant dealing with self-signed certificates and the associated headaches, or paying for a commercial certificate. With the launch of Let’s Encrypt in December 2015, trusted TLS...

Problème emplacement barrette ram

Bonjour à tous,
J'avais récemment échangé avec vous sur l'utilité pour Freenas / Truenas de compléter les emplacements vides de mémoire vive.
https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/appel-à-ram-ct102472bd160b.99360/#post-689744

Is it time for replace, help needed

Hello guys,
I'm using TrueNAS last two years, so I can say I'm quite new on this system. Few weeks ago I noticed that two of the disks started showing some errors on read status, because of this the pool goes to unhealthy state, but if I reboot it again goes to healthy.

1652099460602.png

I know that ZFS will try to self-heal the filesystem, but I'm not sure how to handle this situation.
For instance, in the past I used QNAP and when there is a issue with the disk, it simply mark it as offline...

Strange High Memory Usage by Services

Hi everyone!

I need help to understand what is going on with my freenas memory usage. After a reboot the nas memory is normal but over time Services increases to the point that almost entire Nas is consumed (see image below)
1607537912507.png

I only have one jail with MiniDLNA and one ubuntu virtual machine with 4GB memory allocated. Can someone help me investigate why Services are consuming so much?

I'm running a system based on a Dell T1700 with 24GB memory.

How to make GPU allocatable

I upgraded from Core to Scale, but now hardware transcoding in Plex is no longer working.

I think the problem has something to do with "Allocatable: nvidia.com/gpu = 0", but I'm stuck now.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to fix this?

Strange Bay Mapping with 9211-8i

$

Hello

I recently build a new storage server with TrueNAS Scale which works great so far.
But I have a strange problem with the mapping of the disks to their physical slots.
All disks are shown in the same enclosure/slot. It also changes from time to time.
I've seen 2/56 and 2/8 so far.

This is not really a big problem, because all works so far.
But the IPMI (HP iLO) shows some strange Mapping too, and I can't use sas2ircu to flash the bay LEDs.

Are there some settings to change this...

Scripts to report SMART, ZPool and UPS status, HDD/CPU T°, HDD identification and backup the config

I wanted to share my scripts because I think I'm not the only one who wants to monitor his FreeNAS server a bit more closely and in a more personalized way than the automatic nightly emails would do.

Please note that you're the only one responsible of what you do in the CLI so don't blame me if you mess up your system.

This post is segmented like this:
  • SMART report email
  • ZPool report email
  • UPS report email
  • Display CPU and HDD temperatures
  • Display drives identification...

Slow read performance

I am experiencing slow read performance on my TrueNAS R20. I have one pool using 3.5 TB of storage with 16.29 available. 9 drives 3.64 TB drives configured using RAIDZ3. I have one drive for Caching and one drive for logs. Copying files to the TrueNAS seem to be ok, not great, but useable( 30MBps over 1 Gbps). Copying files from TrueNAS hover between 1.5 and 2.0 MBps.

Looking at the reports for the drives, it does not appear to be using the cache from memory or from the...

Write Performance Comparison between Core and SCALE

Full disclosure, I am virtualizing under ESXi with passthrough of LSI2008 cards in IT mode. I have 5 new Ultrastar He12 disks, which I'm migrating to using another LSI2008 card.

I have been testing a couple of things, including SCALE and I noticed slow performance compared with Core using sequential writes, where I would normally expect memory to be the bottleneck. The below results are using the same 5 disks in RAIDz2, same spec VM's with the same RAM (32GB), clean build, no load:

Hello all. I'm new to the Truenas world as I'm coming from Unraid. I wanted to build a server using Truenas and get away from Unraid for several reasons. I have a SuperMicro X10SLL-F SERVER board, Intel E3-1276 V3, Kingston 32GB (4X8GB) DDR3 1600MHz PC3 12800 UDIMM ECC, 8 x 10TB drives, 1TB NVME (Cache). I think that is the relevant bits. I've tried 3 different expansion cards and none of them are being recognized. I've put them in all three pci-e slots with no configuration yielding...

Hello all,
I recently configured a NAS server for media sharing purposes, then tried both scale and core on it.

Hardware configuration.

Mobo : Asrock X570 Taichi
CPU : AMD 5600x
HDD : 8 X 12 TB Exos
RAM : Corsair Vengeance 128 GB RAM
NIC : Intel X540 - T2
SATA : Using Mobo's 8 inbuilt Sata Ports
L2ARC : 512TB WD SN850 Gen4

  • Both Server and client use 9000 Jumbo frames.
  • 8 X 12 TB HDD is in raidz2 config.

Fast when striped, slow with anything else… CPU?

$

Hi!

I have a TrueNAS Server with 8x 2TB WD Red EFXR. I had it configured as two 4 drive vdevs as Z1, combining to around 11TB.
The CPU is a i5-3470T CPU @ 2.90GHz, the Server has 8GB ECC Memory.

It always did well when accessed via Gigabit LAN, around 100MB/s as expected.
Now I've put a qnap 10Gbit/s card in there and connect to it via a 2,5Gbit/s USB Dongle.
It stays around 100MB/s when reading, around 220MB/s writing. Only if I destroy the Pool and set it up as a complete stripe I can...
