single "Read Errors" on different drives

I just built a 12x4TB Nas out of old server parts as many do, and have started filling it with data. After filling it I moved a bit of data between Datasets, and thats when 2 drives each got a single "read" error in "zpool status"... I cleared it, moved some more data, and another drive or two got a single "read" error... I cleared it again and initiated a manual scrub to have everything checked, now 2 other drives got a single "read" error

Hardware selection for first build

Hello,

I am planning my first build starting with 4 12TB Seagate EXOS drives. I am going to use the Silverstone CS381 case as I already have it. I will be mainly using it for archiving video and audio files but will also plan to use it for other tasks including a light Windows 10 VM and occasionally host a Minecraft server from it.

The Hardware selection I have made is below:
Case: Silverstone CS381 (I already have the case)
CPU: Intel Xeon E-2136

FreeNas + web app?

Hi!
I bought Dell PowerEdge T110 II (didn't came yet) for freeNas and my dad asked me if he may also use it to host a web app on it (propably in Java) and because we live in 2 separate places, he need to have acess to it over newtork. I haven't already bought yet ssd for the system and before i do, i have few questions.
1. Should i buy two separate ssd for Freenas and app or just one with more space?
2. Does the best option is to host app on Freenas vm machine or there are other options?

BHyve Compile error box blocking the way

Hey all. I'm running into this issue with bhyve. Getting error code

CompileError: WebAssembly.instantiate(): expected magic word 00 61 73 6d, found 3c 21 44 4f @+0

But the VM otherwise works. The error is blocking the screen and i cant get it to go away and cant find anything about it. It just started showing up a couple days ago and i havnt updated or installed anything new in months.

Figured I would share my experience upgrading from 12-8.1 to 13.0 (release) in terms of performance. I have done minimal testing to see if anything weird has broken but I have been able to my normal workflow (macOS, SMB, Final Cut Pro, with 10 gig) and have had no errors or issues. Apps not showing up or working after reboot ...

Hi,

I am on the Truenas Scale release version (TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02.0).

Yesterday I rebooted my system and noticed that the apps disappeared:

The pool is still there and data as well:

I also tried to reboot many times ... after the last one let it stay online for about 10 hours and the last thing I did was a middleware restart in the CLI with:

"service middlewared restart"

All without success. This is super weird? How can they just disappear without error...

Установлен TrueNAS 12 Core, установлен NextCloud в виде плагина из коробки.
Все работает, удивляет и радует.

Остается разобраться с SSL. Так как я гуманитарий, я уперся рогом и пока что не доходит до меня общий принцип. TrueNAS - моя первая линуксовая система в руках. А, как вы сами прекрасно знаете, исчерпывающего мануала по этой теме в сети нет ни на английском, ни на русском. Только общие слова.

Conflict with acomba PME

Hi!

First of all im not that good in english so excuse me...

So I have multiple TrueNAS server at home and it's fire!! I like it so much.
With that in mind I installed a NAS at my job and find out that our Acomba server isn't working anymore.
I did not modify port or anyting on the router. And the moment I stop the truenas server Acomba come's back.
I don't know if it's related or not but it seems like it. Acomba is working with a Windows Share by Windows Sever 2019.

hypervisor + virtualized Truenas

Hello,
i was planning to install truenas natively on supermicro+xeon 3, but i saw some discussion that ppl run truenas virtualize and therefor can use HW for virtualization of other VMs - basically no need to have another HW as hypervisor.

Is it possible to say if such a solution is supported by truenas, if its also safe / stable etc? I saw they virtualize it using ESXi.
Also i dont have any HBA card, so will such a virtualization somehow passthrought mainboard SATA directly to virtualized...

It seems like there are lot of guides here on installing Nextcloud, and a number of people reporting problems with many of them. So, I figured, why not write another one? The difference between this method and the others is that this method employs a script to create the jail, install all the relevant packages, and configure them. My thought/hope is that by scripting the installation and setup, a lot of the PEBCAK-type errors that come up in such a complex installation can be avoided...

Where is a VM disk file actually physically located in the pool. Is it hidden?

I created a few VMs and Scale automatically created a Z-Vol for each VM. A Z-vol is in fact a dataset block device located on the Z-Pool.
But I guess it should be a file. I tried to locate the file using the shell as root, but I don't see any files in the Z-Pool dedicated to VMs.
Where is the VM disk actually physically located? Is it hidden somehow?

NextCloud installation not generating Username and Password

The tutorials I have seen online say that after the plugin installs I should be given a generated database username and password. After the plugin installs I don't get one and I have no idea how to fix this issue.

Here is the output I do get:
